Even though reality shows is the center of attention today, soap operas, crime and comedy series too have a considerable viewing in America. The popularity of television series is not something that sprouted out of nowhere. Psychological thrillers of todays like Dexter, or children's series like The Electric Company should be thankful to a bunch of yesteryear shows that made them popular among the general public.
It was during the early 1940s that television became started to breathe its life in the US households. Popular radio programs found a visual space in television screens. The idea that stories can be effectively told through TV was something that was revolutionary. Till then people had to go to the movie halls in order to watch a movie. But with the invention of television, movies came to them. It was easy for series to develop because there was a guaranteed audience for them.
In the 1950s, The Abbot and Costello TV Shows made sitcom hugely popular. For two years Bud Abbot and Lou Costello mesmerized the audience with their magnificent performance. The Crime series that has mass popularity today was also an offshoot from the past. During the late 1950s Alfred Hitchcock produced and partly directed a widely popular television series by the name Alfred Hitchcock Presents. It was literally a series that brought a taste of crime to family dining halls. Each episode was about a crime and its repercussions. Hitchcock himself was the host of the show and presented each episode with flair and in a dialogue that combined mystery and humor.
With the introduction of cable and satellite television, the possibilities have increased and more and more Season Premieres ppear every year. There are around 23 TV series currently under production for the year 2011-12. This is a statistics about those television shows that are being filmed in New York. In 2009, the number of shows filmed in the city was only 9. HBO is currently producing 'Girls', and CBS is currently making 'Unforgettable', a female police detective story. In fact the increasing number of television series filming is so large that, neighbors in New York has started complaining about the nuisance caused by the crew.
Each year we have the annual Emmy award ceremony that honors the best in television every year and television series absolutely dominates these functions. With reality shows gaining more popularity, television is definitely going to be the primary entertainment medium for the public. Television series on the other hand will preserve its place in the public domain through its innovative scripts, engaging drama and comedy.

hello youtube! i am looking for help! this unknown radio signal had been bugging me for years (since about the year 2000 when i got my first radio - a small 40 channel hand held CB radio) well now i have progressed to a radio ham and now can use the 10m band i want to track this noise down. the noise/QRM has a habit of drifting all over the band from 26mhz to about 29mhz then a harmonic(?) of it can be heard around 35mhz. the noise is constand and never stops 24 hours a day. somtimes the speed in which it pluses also speeds up. if any one has any idea of what this noise can be linked to please please do leave a comment! the radio is a Yaesu FT-857D and my aerial is a 200ft G5RV in a inverted V. thanks everyone! peace John
