RV based family vacations are a fabulous way to see The USA and an especially good way to see the National Parks, one of the USA's major features. Most of thefantastic scenery is, however quite remote so before you set out make sure you have supplies of all sorts in case of an emergency. These include food and water, fuel, necessary prescription drugs, a basic tool kit and of course some means of contact. Again, mainly because so many scenic areas are isolated, radio is far more likely to be useful than a cellular telephone; the next cellphone tower could well be a very long way away. So if you are considering an RV trip, consider getting a CB radio, particularly one which is equipped to receive severe weather reports, before you go.

There are many different types of campground available and the facilities vary a great deal.

Some campgrounds even have swimming pools and saunas, but most have all the basic faciltiies, bathrooms, bathrooms and somewhere to clean clothes

Here are the many types of campgrounds that may assist you in deciding where to enjoy your own RV;

National Parks. Throughout the USA there's over three hundred Parks managed by the National Parks Service These parks have been described as 'America's best idea'. The first real National Park was Yellowstone, created in 1890. The idea was a popular one, swiftly copied by other countries such as Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

The scenery is usually outstanding and the park itself inexpenisve. The most popular of the National Parks are Yosemite and Yellowstone. The National Parks service also provide some planned scenic routes, their website at http://www.nps.gov is well worth visiting. Although the parks are large, they can get pretty crowded around the peak months. So consider timing your visit for the off season, perhaps when the park is about to close. You may catch the trees in their autumn colors, or the first falls of snow, sights most visitors never see.

Over 270 million people visit land maintained by the National parks service every year. The largest National park covers 13.2 million acres of the state of Alaska. The largest National park in the contiguous states Is Death Valley National Park in California, which is one tenth of the size. *Regional Parks- These campgrounds are frequently free and of those that do charge, a lot of them charge very little.. You'll find 1000's of Local Parks inside the U.S.

*State Parks- The State parks are perhaps America's most well-known camping locations. These parks are excellent for all those visitors who would like to spend some considerable time outdoors and really enjoy camping Unlike RV Parks within the National Parks, most State parks provide hookups as well as toilets, showers and other basic amenities. from early to advanced features like hot showers and hook ups.

*The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers- manage camp sites at over 450 lakes throughout the United States. Ideal for boaters as well as fishermen, the facilities often include a Marina as well as a tackle shop.

*Bureau of Land Management Campgrounds- Many of these can be found in desert scrublands. If you are into star gazing, then this campground is ideal for you.

*natural wildlife refuges- ideal for nature lovers, but usually restricted (and often private) as the rv owners must not have any impact on the wildlife these areas comprise limited campgrounds and most of them are private.

*National Forests-Forest views are the 'stock in trade' of these campsites. they can be a great deal cheaper than the more famous RV parks within the National Parks

Wherever you decide to stay, be sure to make thorough preparations. Enjoy the freedom of carrying your hotel along with you. There's no packing and unpacking, you're taking all the comforts of home with you. And if you do decide to check out one of the National parks, don't forget about the National park passport, a great scheme for kids where they collect a stamp in their 'passport' for each National park they visit.
